Panama Route

Unfortunately, we didn’t do much cycling in Panama. In order to catch our scheduled boat to Colombia, we were forced to fast track by bus from Almirante to Panama City. We missed out on the hilly, coastal route near Bocas and the climb over the Continental Divide.

Although we didn’t see much, we did enjoy a brief day trip to Bocas del Toro and a few days exploring old Portobelo whilst waiting for our boat.

Places To Avoid

Busy roads in Panama City can be unpleasant for cycling. Had we not needed to take the bus, we might have avoided it altogether.
