In reply to Chris. Hi Chris, Plenty of bothy and hostel options all around the loop. You should have no problem connecting the dots with 80-100km per day. The only problem will be deciding which section to miss out! This might depend on whether you are trying to avoid hike-a-bike or just get to the most scenic areas. Hi Lars, super article and what a legacy to create for others to be inspired by, me for one. I am planning on heading Up to Scotland on the sleeper in April and riding for 5 days, 80-100km a day. Which section of the route would you recommend which means i would be most like to be able to stay in a hostel/hotel/b&b/bothy. Looks like I could go north or south or fort William and do a loop that I may need to to slightly tweak to make it all work.

In reply to Andrew Glen. Hi Andrew, I'm pleased you found it. It's just a glimpse of this crazy and adventure. I met Liam in the hostel 30 minutes before start time just as he'd realised he'd locked his keys in the car. How suprised I was to have him join me for lunch at Oykel Bridge the next day! From then on I was enjoying watching his dot push forward up the ranks. We shared a huge Scottish breakfast afterwards. So great meeting him.

Incredible photos and words (and stats!) Lars! 70+ hours of gnarly riding in fewer than 5 days with nearly 50k feet elevation gain. You’re a freak of nature! I enjoyed imagining you during the musical moments you described. I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster just reading each days highlights. What an accomplishment! Proud of you brother.

Lars! I just loved reading this, thanks for sharing. What a truly epic adventure – one to rival that of Frodo’s. Such an amazing achievement, I am totally impressed.
And all the pictures!! Such beautiful and stunning scenery.
(Also; those pies. Yum.)
I hope you are settling back down to earth ok and your bottom is getting better.

Indeed, it was a big part of success for me. The warm sun really helped keep things on the enjoyable side of the ‘Type 1’ vs ‘Type 2’ fun spectrum!
