I had a Martin backpacker and took that thing with me everywhere. Nothing better than being able to pick up and play no matter where you’re at

I really like the look of each of the guitar shops you visited. They have a really vintage and authentic look about them. If you go to modern mall guitar shops they seem a bit souless but these shops are quite the opposite and full of character.

The guitar you landed looked really nice and portable! Is the soft case enough protection for it on your bike rides?

Hi Mike, sounds like you may be right, perhaps it was Sr. Castillo. Paracho is a lot of fun, I would love to go back and purchase another, unfortunately all the bumpy roads from Mexico to Colombia have damaged the little guitar we bought. it still ‘plays’ but only enough to write with 🙂

hi, nice entry..I have a place in Perula on the Jalisco coast, and ventured to Paracho in search of guitars in 2009….you mentioned Salvador Castillo and his Chirango…I think that was the Sr. Castillo..his son, also Salvadore makes the best flamenco and classical guitars on the planet imho….hope you found your way to his place as well…..also notable was the Vega family, in the artisans Zocalo bldg….and Jesus Fuentes…I had such a blast there….hope to go back at some point…cheers on your adventure!..

A folding guitar! Wow I need to check that out 🙂 I really like our little guitar, it’s holding up just fine considering the bumps on the road. Its not a guitar I would choose to perform or record with but for writing and a general bum around beach style guitar its perfect.
